EDUCATION:
1962 - St. Ambrose University, Division of Nursing
1985 - University of Pennsylvania, OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner
My artistic career started in 1997 when I began making knitted
beaded bags. As my designing progressed I decided I needed to
make one-of-a-kind beads for my knitted bags. So, in 1999 beads
evolved into pendants and dishes, with no end in sight!
In 2002 my creative spirit took another turn and I started
making silver jewelry with Precious Metal Clay. Incorporating
fused glass and PMC is an art form that is not only beautiful
but also varied. Making beaded necklaces seemed to just
naturally come along.
Creatively, 2006 turned into my most enjoyable endeavor thus
far...collaborative work with my daughter, Beth Collette. This
mother/daughter team is stimulating, heart warming and enjoyable
beyond words.
Being a full time Nurse Practitioner limits my designing time to
some degree. However, time for creativity will always be there
for me.
“In a computer age, people are finding that there is a validity
to owning something made by hand. It gives substance to life.”
Marjorie Reed Gordon, antique-glass dealer
ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
“Every year I resolve to be a little less the me I know and
leave a little room for the me I could be.” From Simple
Abundance.
My wearable art career is one of the most enjoyable ventures of
my life. Each day brings a new design, a new adventure. Mistakes
are only minor detours on my path of creativity. I hope you join
me in the love of color and texture of my pieces. |
